Book description

It started with a prophecy, a kidnapping, and a curse. Then it got worse!

Joining the Resistance to fulfill the prophecy — dismantle the Council and free the chimera, Rae’s life went from ordinary to exciting overnight. It didn’t last long.
Kidnapped by a witch with her own agenda, Rae uncovers a web of lies woven to conceal the true extent of her magic. To survive, she must concede to her captor’s terms, but there is a silver lining — Michael, her vampire guardian, is also held captive with a curse. Rae sets out to break the curse hoping to sway the vampire’s allegiance. But nothing ever goes according to plan.

Blue Shadow Prophecy is the second story in the Chimera Trilogy. If you enjoy magical realism, supernatural creatures in a fantasy setting, give this trilogy a try!

Bath Time Reads!

January is the beginning of the new year, but also is a host of a variety of holdays, including National Bath Safety Month. So, while you make sure that facets are covered and that little ones aren’t unattended in the tubs, here’s some books you should read while soaking in a bath bomb:

Miss Meteor

I just finished this book and I think it’s amazing! It’s a fast paced fun read, which is perfect for a good bath, and at the core of the book it’s about friendship and fighting against racism, homophobia, and sexism.

While this isn’t your typical bath book, you should give it a try if you haven’t! I listened to the audiobook and found myself completely captivated by the narration and writing. The book is an awesome fantasy and well worth the read.

To Kill a Kingdom

If you like dark tales, you’ll love this one! It’s a quasi retelling of The Little Mermaid, but with a dark twist. Perfect for a bath tale!

The House of Salt and Sorrow

Another tale with dangerous waters! This one is a mystery set with a retelling about a girl who loves her sisters, but tragedy keeps killing them one by one. If you’re into mysteries and gothic style books, then this is for you! Also, I’m not sure why this was the only cover I could find, but it was. No ill-intent is meant with this cover, I just couldn’t immediately find one without the new york times blurb on it.

A Song Below Water

Mermaids are very popular with me, but this one is well worth the read. It’s about sirens who are forced to keep their identity a secret until something spills the beans.

A Curse of Roses

I really loved this book because it’s a common YA trope of “girl has a curse” but with a twist and romance all over. It’s a nice, simple, romantic read for a nice time.
